MBBS, MS, FMAS, M.Ch. - Surgical Oncology
"Dr. Rahulkumar Chavan is wellknown cancer surgeon in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai after extensive training in cancer surgery from prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai he completed M.Ch. Super specialisation degree in Surgical Oncology (cancer surgery under Homi Bhabha National Institute). With his merit he has completed all his education from popular Government institutes of the country. He completed MBBS from Govt Medical College Dhule & M.S. (General Surgery) - from renowned institute IPGMER (Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research / SSKM Hospital) Kolkata under west Bengal University of Health Sciences. He has published several papers in national & international journals & also presented scientific papers & posters in national conferences. He was awarded 1st prize for poster at ASICON2010 for his work on breast cancer surgery.
He has also worked in breast cancer unit of IPGMER Kolkata for 3 years and got trained in oncoplastic breast surgery. He has also worked in surgical oncology department at, Asian Cancer Institute & Saiffee Hospital as clinical associate. His areas of interest are Breast cancer, Gynaecological cancer (including ovarian, uterus, and cervical cancer) and colorectal (cancer of colon and rectum). He also treats gastrointestinal cancers (cancer of Stomach, Pancreas, Gall bladder, Liver, colorectal), Thoracic cancers (Cancer of Oesophagus, Lungs, mediastinal tumors), Urological cancers (Kidney, Bladder, Testis, Penis and prostate) and cancers of bone and soft tissues. He also hold fellowship degree in minimal access surgery (FMAS). He can speak Marathi, Hindi, Bengali, English. Creating public awareness about common cancers, to detect cancer in early stage to achieve a successful treatment, letting cancer treatment reach to common people and help people to quit addiction to prevent cancer are goals in his life.
Presently he is working as a consultant surgical Oncologist at Fortis Hospital Vashi Navi Mumbai.
